Hello, I’m Kelsey Thompson, LMFT (#124586), MA, a Roseville therapist or seeing clients virtually throughout California.
Starting therapy is a courageous step, and I admire your bravery in seeking to understand and improve yourself. I am truly honored to guide you on this path of transformation and discovery.
In our sessions, I bring empathy, professional expertise, and a genuine commitment to supporting you as you navigate your own journey. Together, we will work towards a life enriched with meaningful experiences, laughter, and love.
Let’s begin this empowering journey together.
My journey into the field of mental health began with a foundational Bachelor of Science in Biology from Cal State East Bay, where I gained a deep understanding of the biological aspects of human behavior. This scientific background provided a solid base for my subsequent ventures into more direct human services. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I was drawn to the profound impact that therapeutic interventions could have on individuals. This led me to return to academia to further focus on direct patient care, earning an Associate’s degree in Human Services and Chemical Dependency. I then received my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University. The experiences and knowledge from this program propelled me to pursue a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, deepening my commitment and capabilities in the mental health field.
My journey into the field of mental health began in a profound and eye-opening way, working in a group home for girls who had experienced sex trafficking. Witnessing the transformative power of therapeutic intervention, I was inspired to delve deeper into this field. During my graduate studies, I worked as a therapist in a transitional housing program for the chronically homeless, addressing severe mental illnesses and substance use disorders. My career continued to evolve as I spent several years at a local intensive outpatient treatment center, helping both adults and adolescents manage substance abuse, navigate mental health challenges, and resolve complex family system issues.
In addition to my formal education, I am certified in brainspotting, a powerful therapeutic approach designed to help people access, process, and overcome trauma. This certification allows me to offer specialized care that addresses deep-seated emotional issues, facilitating significant healing and change. I also have training in Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) which is a very effective treatment for Anxiety Disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Today, as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT, 124586) and the Chief Operations Officer at The Davis Group, I bring a comprehensive blend of scientific knowledge and therapeutic expertise to my practice. I am dedicated to supporting each client through their unique challenges, helping them to discover healthier, more fulfilling ways to live.
Let's begin this transformative journey together, as we explore effective paths to healing and personal growth.
A few of my clinical specialities:
Experiencing trauma in my early teen years profoundly shaped my path, driving me to seek healing that was so transformative, it inspired me to become a therapist myself. My desire to offer similar support and guidance to others has become the cornerstone of my practice.
Raised in Roseville, California, I navigated significant life transitions from a young age. A move to Texas just before middle school, followed by a return to California where I graduated from Granite Bay High School, taught me resilience and adaptability—qualities that have deeply informed my understanding of the challenges and growth inherent in major life changes.
I pursued higher education in Humboldt and the Bay Area, experiences that further enriched my perspective and professional approach. I attended graduate school at Alliant International University where I received my masters in marriage and family therapy.
I wear many hats with pride and purpose: I am a mother, a wife, a therapist, a daughter, a friend, and a business coach for other therapists. Each role offers its unique challenges and joys, shaping the person I am today.
As a working mother of two young sons, I have a deep, personal understanding of the complexities of parenthood. I am dedicated to striking a balance between my professional duties and a rich, fulfilling family life. This commitment not only enriches my personal experiences but also enhances my empathy and effectiveness as a therapist.
My weekends are filled with activities that recharge and delight me. Whether I'm hiking with my family, gardening, enjoying live music, or simply relaxing with friends, I cherish these moments.
As an avid traveler and culinary enthusiast, I eagerly seize every chance to explore new destinations and savor new flavors. From annual trips to Kauai to discovering the diverse landscapes of California, each adventure is an opportunity to create and collect precious memories with my loved ones.
This personal and professional journey continually fuels my passion for supporting others as they navigate their own paths. In my practice, I strive to foster resilience and encourage self-discovery, helping each client grow and thrive amidst life's challenges. By sharing the lessons from my own life experiences, I aim to inspire and guide others towards finding their balance and achieving their fullest potential.
