Haley Matthews, AMFT | Roseville CA

Haley Matthews, AMFT (142098) is a compassionate therapist who believes that healing starts with feeling seen, heard, and understood. Haley provides neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQIA+ affirming care, specializing in anxiety disorders, autism, ADHD, trauma, relationship challenges, and identity exploration. She tailors her approach to each client’s needs using trauma-informed care, Brainspotting, ERP, and humanistic approaches. With experience in residential eating disorder treatment, community mental health, and crisis support for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking, Haley creates a safe, authentic space where clients can show up as themselves.

As a relational therapist, Haley knows how important it is to find a therapist you “click” with in order to do meaningful work. She believes healing starts with the basics: having someone who genuinely cares about what you’re saying and is willing to do the hard work with you. She encourages clients to show up as they are—whether that means wearing comfy clothing, snacking, using fidgets, sitting on the floor, adjusting the couch cushions, dimming the lights, laughing, crying, stimming, or anything else. Haley’s here for it and will match you with also being her authentic self in session. Her client-centered therapy style means she follows your lead, adapting her treatment plan and interventions based on your current needs.

Supervised by Kelsey Thompson, LMFT (124586), MA.

About Haley:

Haley became a therapist because she found a special interest in studying psychology and understanding people. As she pursued classes, held on-campus jobs, and gained hands-on experience, her passion for working with others deepened. Ironically, she once said, “I’ll never be a therapist—that sounds really hard.” But as she progressed in her education and clinical experience, she realized how natural being a therapist is for her and now feels truly fulfilled in her work. Along the way, she learned that authenticity, humor, and connection are the foundations of both her therapy practice and her personal life.

When she’s not in the office, Haley can be found spending time with her extremely needy bulldog, getting lost in psychological thrillers and romance novels, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and rebuilding a social life she once put on pause thanks to #studentlife
